I participated in Discovery’s intensive weekend GradHack as part of a team selected among the top 14 teams from more than 200 applicants. My role included both backend and frontend engineering, where I developed core application functionality using Java for backend services and Flutter for the mobile interface.
Our project, SafeCommute, is a real-time public transport safety and navigation app designed to make commuting safer and more predictable. The system integrates:
Crowdsourced commuter safety reports
Historical crime data
IoT device signals
AI-generated safe routing recommendations
I contributed to features such as live safety alerts, emergency support, and intelligent routing that prioritises safety, reliability, and traffic conditions.
