Work in progress, but six months ago, our final-year Work Integrated Learning module began with a challenge: build a real solution for a real client. Today, I'm reflecting on the journey of creating RHS Alira, a system designed to streamline residential management across maintenance requests, sleepovers, emergencies, student admissions, and more.

My roles were team lead, backend lead and database designer. We followed Agile methodology through every phase of the SDLC, which meant adapting quickly when requirements shifted and celebrating small wins along the way.

We didn't have all the answers, and there were certainly moments of doubt. But that's exactly what made this experience invaluable, developing the ability to filter signal from noise, and keep moving forward even when the path wasn't clear.

Working with Java Spring Framework pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of. Between Stack Overflow, binge-watching Telusko's YouTube channel, and leveraging AI tools to fill knowledge gaps, I learned that resourcefulness matters just as much as expertise.

I'm grateful for the lessons learned along the way and for an incredibly hardworking team.

Tech Stack:

Frontend - HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Backend - Java
DB - Mongo
Authentication - Firebase
